RI President-elect John F. Germ chose Rotary Serving Humanity as his theme for 2016-17. Noting Rotary’s unique ability to bring together committed professionals to achieve remarkable goals, Germ believes that “now is the time to capitalize on our success: as we complete the eradication of polio, and catapult Rotary forward to be an even greater force for good in the world.”
Ian H.S. Riseley is a chartered accountant and principal of Ian Riseley and Co., a firm he established in 1976. Prior to starting his own firm, he worked in the audit and management consulting divisions of large accounting firms and corporations. His firm specializes in income tax and management advice for individuals and small businesses. He has a master’s degree in taxation law and graduate diplomas in accounting and income tax.
Riseley has been a member of the boards of both a private and a public school, a member of the Community Advisory Group for the City of Sandringham, and involved in Sea Scouts and sporting groups, as well as honorary auditor or adviser for a number of charitable organizations.
Riseley’s honors include the AusAID Peacebuilder Award from the Australian government in recognition of his work in East Timor, the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the Australian community, the Distinguished Service Award and the Regional Service Award for a Polio-Free World from The Rotary Foundation.
A Rotarian since 1978, Riseley has served as treasurer, director, Foundation trustee, and member and chair of numerous RI and Foundation committees.
He and his wife, Juliet, a past district governor, are Major Donors and Bequest Society members of The Rotary Foundation. They live on seven hectares at Moorooduc, where they practice their personal philosophy of sustainable and organic living. They have two children and four grandchildren.
Rtn.R.Srinivasan is an M.Sc, M.Phil Post Graduate in Science and started his career as an Asst Research Scientist in Indian Council of Medical Research. Then visualizing the boom in the Construction Industry he started two Brick Kilns with special emphasis on Quality Brick Production. Apart from that he is also dealing in Imported Coal Trading in the name and style of Ponniaman Coal Traders. He also owns and operates a Star Category Hotel called Ponnis Grand Inn near Porur.
Joined the Rotary movement as a Member of the Rotary Club of Chennai East R.A Puram (era) from its Chartered days and was responsible for executing many Service Projects at the Club Level. Most noted among them was the Transit School Project which catered to the needs of the Children of Migrant Laborers which went a long way in mainstreaming these Children into Regular Academic Schooling. Before becoming the President he has been the Chairmen for various Avenues at the Club Level. He was the President of his Club in 2007 and was adjudged as one of the top 10 Clubs/Presidents of that year.
At the Dist level- He has held the positions of GGR (08-09), Associate Chairman for Literacy (09-10), Asst. Governor (10-11). As Pets Chairman he delivered a Benchmark Pets at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. As Director International Service (11-12) he gave a new dimension to this Avenue by conducting a Thai Nite, US Nite, Japan Nite, Malaysian Nite, and German Nite with the respective Consul Generals as Chief Guests thereby strengthening the Public Image of Rotary. He was adjudged as the best Dist Director that year. As Director New Generation (12-13) he brought the Rotaract Movement close to Rotary and organized the Interact Council. As Director- Membership Development he boosted the Dist Membership close to 6000 and organized Multiple Membership Orientation, Retention Seminars.
He is a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation and all his Family Members are Paul Harris Fellows. He has attended International Conventions at Bangkok, Seoul and the Rotary Institute in Jaipur and on Board Virgo. He also organized a Rotary trip to South Africa promoting networking and Friendship thereby paving way for partnering of service projects in both Rotary Districts. He is a Member of Cosmopolitan Club, MRC Club and TNCA Club in Chennai and was once the Governing Council Member of Cosmopolitan Club.
He is also a Member of the Federation of All India Hotels Assn and South India Hotel Assn. He has visited US, Japan, S.Africa, Malaysia, Thailand Singapore, Dubai, Kazakastan, S.Korea, Sri Lanka etc and attended Rotary Meetings there.
Rtn.R.Srinivasan is married to Ann Dr.Sujatha an Anesthetist .They are blessed with a son Sharoon who had finished his Masters in U S and now in Training ,Daughter Sriyaa in the Final Years at The International School ,Bengaluru.
